Agricultural Tours

The Andes has throughout history been a hotbed of crop domestication and adaptation. Lucia's family and the community of Amaru at large maintain an incredible range of altitude-adapted heritage varieties of potatoes, fava and lupin beans, oca, mashua, and corn. Seasonally join planting, harvest, or herding activities and learn about and sample the many varieties. Learn how the crop is preserved and stored. Discuss traditional regenerative practices and irrigation and discuss how climate change is affecting them.
